GCC Portal: Business Operations & Client Management Platform
Consolidated company, product, order, and billing management into a single portal, replacing disconnected tools

Background
Iron Mountain's internal operations were managed across multiple tools with no unified view of clients, orders, and billing. The GCC Portal consolidated this into a single platform. Getting a straight answer to what a client currently had on order, and what they had been billed, meant checking several systems that didn't talk to each other, which is a slow and error-prone way to run enterprise-scale operations.
What We Built
A NestJS REST API with MongoDB, deployed alongside an Angular frontend. The platform covers:
- Company management
- client onboarding, profiles, and account settings
- Products & services
- configurable catalogue with pricing tiers
- Order management
- order lifecycle from creation through fulfilment
- Billing
- invoice generation, BEAM integration for external accounting sync, order analytics
- Project management
- project tracking linked to client companies
- Users & permissions
- RBAC with JWT auth, 2FA for elevated roles
- Notifications
- scheduled reminders, notification logs, email via template engine
- Support uploads
- document upload and retrieval per support ticket
Architecture
NestJS with a modular domain structure (billing, company, orders, products, projects, permissions, notifications), so each concern can evolve without the others breaking. PDF generation covers billing and order documents. Cron jobs handle scheduled reminders. Docker-based deployment uses separate live and local Dockerfiles.
Results
Client, order, and billing data spread across several disconnected tools
One portal with a single view of every client's orders, billing, and projects
Billing synced against the external finance system by hand
Dedicated BEAM integration keeps external sync isolated and independently testable
Outcomes & Lessons Learned
- Consolidated company, product, order, and billing management into a single portal, replacing disconnected tools
- Automated PDF generation for orders and billing documents
- BEAM billing integration for external financial system sync
- Role-based permissions with 2FA enforced for admin users
- Scheduled reminders and notification logs for operational events
Separating the BEAM billing integration into its own schema, alongside the core billing schema, kept external system sync concerns isolated from internal billing logic, making the BEAM connector independently testable and replaceable if the external system ever changes.
Questions, answered.
The things people ask us about this project. If yours isn't here, ask us directly, we reply like humans.
Ask us anything→What was scattered across multiple tools before this platform existed?
Client company profiles, product and order data, and billing were managed across disconnected tools with no unified view, so answering what a client currently had on order and what they'd been billed meant checking several systems that didn't talk to each other.
How does billing stay in sync with the external finance system?
A dedicated BEAM integration, kept in its own schema separate from core billing, syncs with the external accounting system, which keeps that sync concern isolated, testable, and replaceable independently of internal billing logic.
What security measures are in place for admin users?
Role-based permissions with two-factor authentication enforced for admin users, on top of JWT-based authentication for the platform generally.
How are documents like invoices and orders generated?
Automated PDF generation covers both order and billing documents, produced directly from the platform's data rather than assembled manually.
How does the platform handle scheduled reminders and notifications?
Cron jobs handle scheduled reminders, with notification logs and email delivered via a template engine, so operational events don't rely on someone remembering to follow up.
